Why is Flex-fuels as renewable energies better to burn than fossil fuels?
Fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal have limited availability and are price volatile. On average it only takes four months to grow a renewable energy such as corn. By using corn for heating purposes, we can assist in decreasing our use of fossil fuels and other rapidly depleting energy sources. By reducing the demand of fossil fuels, their cost will stabilize. Burning corn and renewable energies for heating our homes allows us to support our local communities and their economies by keeping our business local and reducing the need of importing fuel.

What is the routine cleaning and maintenance of the Winchester? How often must the Winchester be professionally serviced?
The heat exchanger should be cleaned daily and is easily done by pulling and pushing a rod that scrapes the fly ash off the heat exchanger tubes. The firepot should be checked or cleaned of build up daily and the clinker build up removed if needed. The ash chambers and the ash pan should be cleaned every 3 to 7 days depending on the model, your fuel and your burning habits. The exhaust system, motors and fans should be cleaned monthly or as needed with a chimney brush and/or an ash vacuum designed for pellet and corn stoves. An ash vacuum designed for fine ash makes the cleaning process easy and more effective by preventing tiny ash particles from releasing into the air and also as a safety precaution in case any hot ashes were to be accidentally vacuumed. There is an annual spring cleaning of the stove in which the auger, fans and motors are cleaned. Read the Winchester Owner’s Manual for complete instructions.
